Stan Harris was born on July 13, 1928 in Hartford Connecticut and passed away in Roy, WA on March 17, 2015. He is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Mona Harris, brothers: Al, Tate and Deed. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Gaye: Children, Sheryl (Bill) Pickering, Sandra Harris, Steve (Lori) Harris and Pamela (Vince) Gibson as well as five grandchildren (Jesse Sherwood, Sally Sherwood, Heather Harris, Levi Gibson and Cody Gibson) and one great-grand child, Riley Sheasley. Stan was a United States Marine, and in the United States Air Force Reserves. He had careers with Pan Am, Boeing and Bel-Kirk Motors. He was also a volunteer firefighter for many years. After retirement, he worked a few years with the Forest Service. Stan and Gaye moved in 1962 from their home in Miami to Kirkland Washington to start a new adventure in the Northwest. They bought a small one room cabin in Skykomish for a vacation home. Eventually, they built on to the cabin and made it a beautiful home on the river. They enjoyed all the trails of the mountains, including working on the Iron Goat Trail, and were involved in the Skykomish Historical Society. In 2002 they moved to Roy to be closer to their children. He was in the Horse Racing business, owning and racing for many years with his daughters Sheryl and Pamela. He loved the excitement of the horses running down the stretch for the win. He also had two motorcycles that he enjoyed with his son, Steve for many adventures. In the last months of his life, his many friends and family were by his side in testament to the influence he continued to have in their lives. Stan will always be with us and in our hearts. We will always remember his kindness, laughter and the love he had for his family.
