Edward Tai Cartwright
February 26th, 1966 - June 27th, 2014
Edward T. Cartwright Ed was born in Bangkok, Thailand on February 26, 1966, the son of Civilai and Lester Cartwright of South Hill, Washington. Ed lived an amazing life and died peacefully at home on the 27th of June 2014, after a long battle with a very aggressive brain cancer, anaplastic astrocytoma Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) Ed distinguished himself through his honorable service to our country. He served 22 years of active duty service as a logistics specialist and an Army aviator. He was rated in the UH-1H (Huey) and both the AH-64A Apache and AH-64D Longbow attack helicopter. He was dual tracked as an Aviation Safety Officer and Maintenance Test Pilot. Ed served in Desert Shield/Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF/03-04). After retirement in 2006 he was superintendent of warehouse operations for the Alaskan Copper and Brass Company, Seattle, WA. He returned to serve his country as a Department of the Army civilian in 2007 as a Tactical Brigade Safety Manager for the 593rd Sustainment Brigade at Joint Base Lewis McChord, WA., which included a deployment to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. Ed leaves behind his beloved and devoted wife Petra of 27 Years; sons Tai, now serving in the Air Force and Richard of Texas. He is survived by his loving brother Marc and sister Laura. Funeral Service will be held Thursday July 3rd, 2014 at Edwards Memorial Chapel, 11020 South Tacoma Way, Lakewood WA. Viewing at 11:00am Service to start at 12:00 Noon with reception to follow.
