Carol Wasierski
November 12th, 1941 - June 25th, 2010
Carol was a loving, attentive grandmother, a strong parent, and a beautiful friend. She passed away from a fight with cancer on June 25, 2010. Carol was born November 12, 1941 in Mitchell, South Dakota to Llewellyn and Marion (Imhoff) McConkey. Her family moved to Mountain Home, ID when Carol was 2 years old. She graduated Mountain Home High School in 1960, and attended Long Beach State City College. Carol married John H. Wasierski of Falmouth, MA in Mountain Home in 1962. They had 3 children, LeAnn, John and Jeff. They moved to Lacey, WA in 1969 where she resided for 41 years.Carol worked as a School Secretary at Lydia Hawk Elementary and as a Human Resource Assistant at the Mental Health Division of DSHS. She cherished the many friendships she cultivated at her workplace. Carol had a gift with children, and after retirement Carol enjoyed working as a caregiver and babysitter for many Olympia families. She enjoyed walking and was a member of Volkssport and Olympia Senior Center Walkers. She baked fabulous pies, and loved gardening. Carol was a voracious reader and player of Scrabble. She will long be remembered for her sense of humor, pet name calling and as the life of many a gathering of friends and family. Surviving Carol are her children, LeAnn Rowlen (Matthew) of Seattle, WA. John Wasierski Jr. of Des Moines, WA and Jeff Wasierski (Jennifer) of Bellevue, WA; brothers, Robert McConkey of Eureka, CA, and David McConkey of Arcata, CA; sisters, Sharon Hammock, Bermuda Dunes, CA and JoAnn Howard, Kona, HI; 6 grandchildren; Katelyn, Ryan, Kyle and Emma Wasierski, Bellevue, WA, Jacob and Jared Rowlen, Seattle, WA. Ex husband, John Wasierski, Olympia, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, DeWayne and Gary McConkey. She lived a very full and interesting life and will be remembered by the family, friends and children she touched. Family suggests memorial donations may be made to: Hands on Children’s Museum, 106 11th Ave. SW, Olympia, WA 98501.
