JoAnne Terman Weldon

JoAnne Terman Weldon JoAnne Terman Weldon, beloved wife and mother, went to heaven peacefully from her home with her family at her bedside on October 15, 2012. JoAnne was born to Beryl Franklin and Ruth Ann Terman in Wheatland, Wyoming on December 2, 1931. She was raised in Casper, Wyoming and graduated valedictorian from Natrona County High School with the class of 1949. In 1959, JoAnne married the love of her life, Richard Lee Weldon. Together they raised three wonderful children and seven beloved pets. In her early years, JoAnne worked as a secretary for Shell Oil and was Deputy Clerk of Court in Casper. In 1971, the family moved to Centralia, Washington where she was a homemaker, and involved in her church and family life. At the age of 44, JoAnne went back to school and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Pacific Lutheran University. She started her teaching career as a first grade teacher at Fords Prairie Elementary School in 1980. Following a rewarding teaching career, she and Richard enjoyed “snow-birding” in Arizona, motorcycle trips, camping, gardening, boating and spending time with their family. Her accomplishments were many, her dearest loves were her family, animals and music. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Richard Weldon; daughter, Arianne Weldon of Seattle; son, John Weldon (Lucinda) of Yakima; daughter, Della Durr of Olympia; and grandchildren, Sarah McClew, Joshua McClew (Ivy), Rebecca Weldon, Jesse Weldon, Theresa Ochua (David), Charles Alvarez (Diane), Garrett Avarez, Edward Alvarez (Leanne), Christoper Alvarez (Lina), Danny Alvarez, Jacob and Olivia Durr; and 20 great grandchildren. Services will be held Sunday, October 21, 2012 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Christopher’s Community Church, 7902 Steamboat Island Road NW, Olympia.
