Margaret "Mag" A. Wilkins
July 2nd, 1919 - March 6th, 2009
none MARGARET A. WILKINS Margaret A. Wilkins, 89, a 69-year resident of Olympia, died Friday, March 6, 2009 at Chambers Creek Adult Family Home in Olympia. She was born on July 2, 1919, to Gunder and Guro (Tofte) Brandstad in Mount Vernon, Washington. She graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1937. At the age of 20, Mag moved to Olympia to work for the State. She met and later married the love of her life, Lawrence Wilkins, on September 21, 1946 in Mount Vernon. Together, Mag and Larry raised eight children. Mag enjoyed being a homemaker and mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling with her husband, and her weekly coffee with the girls. Mag is survived by her five sons and four daughters-in-law: Gregory and Jackie Wilkins, Olympia, Brad and Darla Wilkins, Olympia, Roger Wilkins and Elizabeth Balzer, Seattle, Jeffrey Wilkins, Seattle, and Wade and Stephanie Wilkins, Redmond; three daughters and sons-in-law, Patti and Mike Phillips, Olympia, Janice and Bill Armstrong, Redmond, and Debra and Richard Milham, Gig Harbor. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, in 1994, as well as her parents, three sisters and two brothers. A funeral service for Mag will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 13 at the Masonic Center, 455 North Street SE, Tumwater, Washington. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Puget Sound Affiliate, 1900 N. Northlake Way, Suite 135, Seattle, WA 98103 or a favorite charity.
