Lester Wayne Marberg
April 26th, 1955 - November 30th, 2011
Lester was born April 26, 1955 in Seattle, WA and passed away November 30, 2011 at the age of 56. He attended Lindbergh High School, class of 1973, worked as a dishwasher, cook, roofer, forklift driver and laborer throughout his adult life. He lived a hard life and spent several years as an urban outdoorsman before getting a great job at a metals shop in Kent, WA. He suffered a stroke in July, 2010 leaving him partially paralyzed but he was still able to live independently and drive his beloved Chevy Silverado Z71 until his last days. Lester died in his sleep at Franciscan Hospice House in University Place after several painful months battling colon cancer. Lester was a very proud man all the way up to the end. “As his friend of 40 years” Kevin said, “Les was the most stubborn, pigheaded man, but he had more character and integrity than any man I've ever known”. Kevin said he “would have trusted him with anything, including his life. He wasn't one to gossip, if you confided in him”. Lester is survived by his parents, Lester J. and Julie Marberg, brother, Lawrence Marberg, sisters; Lauralee Rowan and Leanne Blyth and several aunts, uncles and cousins. His corneas have been donated to SightLife giving the gift of sight to 2 recipients. Lester’s ashes will be spread in the waters at Deception Pass, where the family shared many fun memories camping through our growing up years.
