John Wallace Nokes

John “Johnny” Wallace Nokes, 52, of Graham, Washington; passed away early in the morning on the 8th of September. He went peacefully in his sleep while his mother and friend were visiting. John was born on April 2nd 1962, in Antioch California, the son of John Fred Nokes and his wife Mary Ann Philips. Already the new younger brother of Laura Dowey, he would have a loving childhood. Later he would find himself with two more siblings, Marie Doctor and Philip Graves. After school, the Air Force, and odd jobs from California all the way up to Alaska, he would finally find the state he would call home in Washington. It was also here that he met his future wife Shanon Blocker. With a son, John Douglas Nokes, of his own and a wife now, John settled down and found a job as a chimney sweep, where he would remain employed for the better part of a decade. This job led him to his final home in Graham, a small town that he and his family would grow to love and make many fond memories. His job at the chimney company didn't last forever though and before too long he was looking for new employment. A natural mechanic and all around handyman, John found his dream job at Fairwood Golf and Country Club, starting out as part of the greens crew and groundskeepers he would quickly become a mechanic and then head mechanic for the entire course. During the course of his two long term jobs he would make many acquaintances that would turn into lifelong friendships. John's memorial service will be held on Sunday the 14th, at 3pm, at Fairwood Golf and Country Club at 17070 140th Ave. SE. Renton, 98058. We are requesting that any attendees that have fond memories, stories, or photos of John to write them down or bring copies so that we can make a scrapbook.
