Veron Salvatore “Sal” Young Sal was born to Rose DeLangalo and Jacob Yorgey in Norristown, Pennsylvania on January 1, 1941. He wasn't the first New Years baby that year but close to it. Sal came from a rather large family with 10 kids in his family. He is survived by Jake, Herb, Bruce, Rose, Ellen, JoAnne and Paulette. He is predeceased by Les and Catherine. He lived in many different places growing up but his fondest memories of his childhood involved time spent at the Schuylkill River, Mr. and Mrs. Harpel's place, and all time with his family. He loved working on cars which was something passed down to him from his father, Jacob. In 1972, he moved to California where he met his wife, partner in life, and best friend, Sharon. He moved them to Oakville, Washington where they spent their life and raised their children. He leaves behind his daughter Annie, her husband Terry and their daughter Kyra. He also leaves behind his daughter Becky, her daughter Krystina and son Donovan. His family was his greatest accomplishment and he was so proud of each and every one of them. Sal was a jack of all trades. His philosophy was that if someone else could do a job, well, so could he. He mainly worked as an Automotive Mechanic/Technician but, in moving to a logging area, he worked in the forest products industry as well. He made life-long friends from working at the local cedar mill and also as a volunteer on the Oakville Fire Department. These friends became his extended family. Anyone that spent time with Sal was treated more like family by him then just a friend. Sal's hobbies consisted of watching football (Go Broncos!!), drinking coffee with the gang at the round table down at Jag's, playing Keno with his pals at the casino, fishing with his grandson Donovan...as long as it was nice weather... but most importantly being a very active and vital part of his children’s and grandchildren's lives. At all sporting events, school functions or even just practices, you would see him in the stands, in the crowd, or standing on the sidelines. Donovan's football coaches had commented on how "We love that guy; he is at every practice!" He loved taking the grandkids to breakfast on Sundays, adventures "hunting" Blackbeard, drawing with them, teaching them to swim, watching football or baseball, talking to them on the phone, or just having them around. Sal was that guy that had a hard exterior and was tough when he needed to be tough and caring and kind when with the ones he loved. He worked hard his whole life and didn't actually retire completely until about a year ago. He was able to visit his brothers and sisters periodically and he treasured those visits with them. He would share stories with his family so that, although we didn't grow up spending much time with his brothers and sisters, we felt as though we did through stories shared and the pictures he painted. He loved a good joke and always had a smile for everyone. Please feel free to write a message in the Guestbook below whether it’s a goodbye to him or a thought for those he left behind.
