Elsie was born on April 8, 1920 in Wenatchee , WA , to Daniel and Amine Stickel. She was one of seven children....Hilda, Reinholt, Anna, Clara, Elsie, Helen and Betty. She graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1939 and married Carl Snyder on June 3, 1944 in San Francisco , CA , where he was recuperating from wounds suffered in WWII. They began married life in Bremerton where Elsie worked as a clerk/typist for the Navy, then moved to Chelan, WA after the war, and then Zillah, Oroville, and Palouse, WA as Carl pursued first teaching and coaching and later school administration. They moved to Montesano , WA in 1963 where Carl was superintendent of schools. Carl passed away in 1996 and Elsie moved to Tacoma in 1998. Elsie was a homemaker and was very proud of her daughters and grandchildren. She enjoyed singing, flower gardening, and home decorating, and was proud of her “A” in a college-level interior design class. She was very friendly and never forgot a name. Elsie died peacefully on June 9, 2010. She is survived by Doreen (Dan) Small of University Place, Pat (Gene) Krueger of Springfield, VA, her sister, Helen Boyles of Spokane , and her beloved grandchildren, Katie, Brian, Kyle, and Chris, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
