Robert Dempsey

Born October 11, 1918 in Los Angeles, California to Michael and Sarah (Hanan) Israel and passed away July 30, 2009 in Lakewood, Washington. Robert Dempsey was a member of the first Graduating Class of The University of Washington's School of Economics. He used his education while serving as a Statistics Clerk in the Army during World War II. He was proud to serve his country alongside his Brotherhood of Soldiers for the "Greatest Country In The World". Mr. Dempsey stayed active in the VFW and American Legion and wanted to go to the World War II Memorial and take fellow veterans with him. Mr. Dempsey then worked in the Aerospace industry for The Boeing Company until his retirement. Mr. Dempsey enjoyed opera and classical music. This love of music helped to stimulate his brain and to stay alive. This was a man who had a drive to constantly learn. He often asked to be told important facts so he could keep his brain sharp. He had a keen eye for fashion and insisted on being 'presentable at all times'. Robert Dempsey lived out his final years under the loving care of Paula and Mary of Anderson's Adult Family Home. It was a pleasure to visit with Mr. Dempsey and to see him thrive in his final years. This was the result of the One on One care and special attention of Mary and Paula. He loved them very much. He was always a gentleman. Even on his worst day those with him only had to ask and he would sing a Spanish or French Love Song in appreciation of their Beauty. Robert Dempsey has left quite an impression on those who have had the pleasure of sharing his company. A kiss on the hand from this wonderful Gentleman will be missed. Service with military honors was held at 10AM Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St., Kent, WA 98042. Arrangements by Edwards Memorial Center, 253-566-1008
