December 27th, 1958 - August 17th, 2017
Marta Kay Pier, age 58, passed away on August 17, 2017 at her home in Pe Ell, Washington. She was born in Olympia, Washington, on December 27, 1958. Marta attended Olympia High School. Professionally, she worked at the local grocery store in Pe Ell, where she was in charge of liquor management with certification from the State Liquor Control Board. Marta spent the past 13 years with her partner, Mike Rajcich. They shared a wonderful companionship, caring for each other, and enjoying many trips to the ocean. She was family to Mike’s children and grandchildren. Marta was always ready to help those in need. During the Lewis County Flood, she helped many folks rebuild their homes. She was a seamstress for the Olympia Doll House, where she made beautiful clothes for dolls worldwide. She also loved gardening, especially flowers, her favorites being daisies and yellow roses. An avid animal lover, she fed many wild animals on a daily basis. Marta was an awesome and loving person who was loved in return by family and many friends who will greatly miss her. She is survived by her dearly loved son, Richard Cassou, his fiancée, Shannon, and her son, Jase; her much loved son, Kai Maxwell, his wife, Gina, and their children, Kyler and Ellie May; her loving mother, Sharon Dziekonski; and beloved companion, Mike Rajcich, his children and grandchildren. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Wendy Horn; niece, Patty Rogers, and her husband, AJ; great niece, Harmony Rogers; the grandchildren of her late husband, Jerry Pier; many cousins; and her sweet dog, Grover, and cats, Charlie and Clyde. Marta never complained about her illness and is now with her brothers, John and Jim Horn; her husband, Jerry Pier; her father, Rick Horn; and her grandparents, Martha and Ray Linderson.
