Akin Davis Funeral Home - LaBelle
Wayne C Switzer
January 10th, 1944 - April 10th, 2021
Wayne Cadman Switzer, 77 Wayne Cadman Switzer passed away Saturday, April 10, 2021 with his family at his side. Wayne was born and raised in Silver Spring, MD where he attended Northwood High School, Montgomery Junior College and the University of Maryland. As a young man, he was a talented wrestler and played and taught classical guitar. Wayne married Frances Sheehan on January 25, 1969 and moved his family to Naples, Florida in 1976 where he remained until he and Fran moved to Fort Denaud, FL in 2001. Wayne worked for New York Life Insurance Company for 50 years, earning his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation early in his career. He enjoyed the opportunity to meet and serve so many people in the community through his insurance business. In his younger years, Wayne loved taking his family on boating and motorhome adventures, traveling all around North America. Wayne and Fran continued to enjoy boating from their home on the Caloosahatchee River. Wayne also had a passion for muscle cars, particularly his ’68 Oldsmobile Cutlass and his ’72 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. If you knew Wayne, you knew his love for hot rod cars! After moving to Fort Denaud, Wayne served as a volunteer patrolman for the Hendry County Sheriff’s Department, Secretary of the Labelle Gathering of Christian Men, a leader of the Fort Denaud Group, and President of the Hidden Hammock Homeowner’s Association. He and Fran attended First Christian Church of LaBelle. Wayne leaves behind Fran, his devoted wife of 52 years; his son Kevin Switzer and his wife Denyce, his daughter Julie Baines and her husband Torrey, and his 11 precious grandchildren. Wayne was a master storyteller with an incredible memory for names and details. His stories will live on through all who knew him. He had a terrific sense of humor and was always able to give his family a good laugh. He will be greatly missed, but we rejoice he is with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A small family gathering will be held to honor and celebrate his life. In memory of Wayne, donations may be made to Hope Hospice in Lehigh, FL at https://donate.hopehcs.org.
