Melvin Richard Springer

Born December 23, 1951 in Longview, Washington, Melvin Richard Springer passed away of cancer on February 19, 2017 in Centralia, Washington. He was 65. Melvin enlisted in the U.S. Army on January 20, 1969, serving in Vietnam from April 25, 1970 to March 12, 1971, during which time he was awarded a Purple Heart. He was discharged on November 18, 1971. Soon thereafter, he married Marjorie Elaine Mann on June 2, 1972 in Seattle, Washington Melvin returned to school, obtaining his GED through North Community College in 1975, and graduating from South Community College in 1977 with a degree in diesel mechanics. He held various jobs, including his last as a self-employed commercial driver. Melvin was strong-willed, good-natured, witty, and was always helpful to others in need. He loved motorcycles, fishing, movies and guitar. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie E. Springer; sons, Charles H. Springer, and Paul R. Springer; four grandchildren; brother, David Springer; and sisters, Catherine McPherson and Deanna Mingo. He was predeceased by his son, James L. Springer; father, Fredrick D. Springer; mother, Lorraine M. Patrick; and brothers, Christopher D. Springer, and Gary M. Springer. Please leave memories of Melvin or condolences for his family in the Guestbook below.
