On April 15, 2014 at 7:10PM Antoinette Maria McGrath passed away quietly with her younger son and care givers near by. Ann was born on June 1st, 1929 in West Haven, CT. She was the third child and only daughter of Custode and Maria Marchese (nee Damanti) who were from Sicily and Genoa, Italy. Ann grew up in West Haven, where she met the love of her life, Joseph McGrath, at Savin Rock. She married Joseph on December 26,1949. Ann and Joe had two sons. Lee of Edina, MN and Paul of Tacoma, WA. She graduated from West Haven High School and Larson College (now part of Quinnipiac College) in Hamden, Connecticut and earned a masters degree in library science from Long Island University, C.W. Post Campus in Brookview, New York. Ann and Joe raised their sons in Huntington, NY, where Ann was the head reference librarian at Huntington Public Library and Joe was a history teacher at Locust Valley High School. After they both retired, they moved to Tucson, AZ in 1989. In 2011 Ann and Joe moved to Tacoma, WA. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, her brothers Vincent and Sebastian (Mark) Marchese, her brother-in-law Robert McGrath, and sisters-in-law Nancy (Raffile) McGrath and Florence (Levine) Marchese, and nephew Paul Marchese. She is survived by her two sons, her daughter-in law Bonnie Speer McGrath, her son-in-law David Beland and her four grand children Michael, John, Jennifer and Sheila Ann McGrath, her sister-in-law Marjorie ( Becker) Marchese, in addition to many nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be celebration of Ann's life on May 18, 2014 at noon at The Bridge Church @ 5601 South Puget Sound Ave.
