Harold Duane Lakey was born September 15th, 1939 to Olive Neoma Coleman and Frank Allen Lakey in Hunters, Washington. His formative years were spent nurturing a love for the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He graduated from Glenns Ferry High School in 1958 and enlisted in the US Navy. His 23 year career in the US Navy was a great source of pride, and was one avenue through which he created many of his life-long friendships. Following his Naval career, Harold was employed by the US Postal Service until his retirement. This job provided many air mattresses which were used as backyard trampolines over the years by his 5 children. Harold married Patricia Pauline Powell and together they raised Annie Ami (Andrew Cameron Becker), JR Duane (Melissa Marie Bone), Tina Marie, Shaun Duane and Vance Paul. Harold also had the honor of being step-father to Brenda Lee, Barbara Lynn and Ralph Lee and grandfather to Taryn Jaisa, Jason Lee Thomas, Aereana Marie, Molly Addison, Isabelle Lyann and Baby Becker. A man of few words, Harold always provided well for his family. He taught his children the importance of hard work, and showed them how to log trees from the back yard, skin a deer, and not only to fish, but to catch a salmon their size. Other favorite family activities were swimming, road trips, and camping. He was a sensitive, emotional man; easy to tears when shown an affection. He loved his family fiercely. He loved sunflowers, seafood, fireworks, the beach, and having a good time. He is survived by his sister Joan (Gene Alvey), his cousin Gene (Shirley) Lakey, wife Patricia, 8 children and 5 1/3 grandchildren.
