Thomas Norman Turnbull

Thomas Norman Turnbull Thomas Norman Turnbull was born in Tacoma, Washington on April 16, 1951 and passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2012 following a courageous battle with brain cancer. Tom grew up the youngest of three children in Milton, Washington. He graduated from Fife High School and went on to graduate from Western Washington University earning a degree in economics. To earn money for college, he spent his summers working for Foss on the tugboats. After college, he joined the Navy and became a naval aviator flying helicopters and C-12's. While in the Navy, he completed his masters from Embry Riddle in Aviation Administration. He retired from the Navy in 1995 and began his second career with FedEx as a pilot. While flying for FedEx, he flew the DC-10 and MD-11. Flying and traveling were his passion. Tom is survived by his wife Linda of 40 years; his daughter, Laura Brewer; his son-in-law, Marshall Brewer; his sister, Gail Cranford; and his brother, Dan Fuller along with numerous extended family and friends who were near and dear to his heart. His parents, Douglas and Dorothy Turnbull and his brother, John, preceded Tom in death. A celebration of life will be held at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church at 2306 Milton Way, Milton, Washington on Saturday, September 8th at 11:00 a.m. Donations may be made to The Thomas Turnbull Donation Fund at any Key Bank branch. These funds will be used to create a scholarship, which will be awarded to deserving students wishing to pursue a career in the aviation industry. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all the numerous friends and extended family members for their love and support given during this difficult time.
