Clyde Ray Christensen

June 3, 1941 - March 21, 2024 Clyde was born June 3, 1941, in Richfield, Utah, to parents, Elmo Ray Christensen and Nola Kofford Christensen (both deceased). At Clyde’s birth, his mother proclaimed “…He was such a welcome blessing, we named him Clyde Ray…we are so glad to have him in our family…” Clyde was raised in Richfield and graduated from Richfield High School in 1959. He attended Snow College and studied to become an electrician. Later, he chose to serve a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus of Latter-day Saints, faithfully serving in the Kentucky Mission. He was also a member of the Utah National Guard, and was the first one in his family to go deer hunting and loved to hunt and camp. Clyde worked in multiple industries, including logging, power lines, and airlines, while living in multiple locations from California to Illinois (Chicago), Oregon, Utah, and Washington. In 1965, Clyde married Alene. They had four children and divorced after 32 years. In 1999, he married Rowena and they had one child. Clyde was an active member of The Church of Jesus of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed many events and activities. He also enjoyed attending the temple. Throughout his life, he loved many outdoor activities, such as family camping, teaching his kids to fish, and rafting the Rouge River. This continued with growing gardens and building his children a backyard fort. Clyde enjoyed having pets, including several dogs, homing pigeons, and a few cows. He attended as many of the children’s activities as he could, such as Scouts, Pinewood Derbies, school plays, assorted sports, and 4-H Fairs. As technology quickly changed, Clyde took on a new challenge and built a computer from a kit. Through his employment with United Airlines, he discovered his love of travel and visited many places in different countries. While Clyde was living in California, his son, Allen, suffered a traumatic brain injury while stationed overseas. He and Alene welcomed Allen, Lisa and their two children into their home. Clyde would play with the boys and keep them busy so Lisa could concentrate her efforts on helping Allen recover. They would spend every day, including the weekends, visiting Allen. Later on, they would take Allen on family trips to different areas within the state. Clyde is survived by his wife Rowena P. Christensen; his sons, Clyde Allen Christensen, Travis (Leanne) Christensen, and Caelan Christensen; daughters, Allison (Ed-deceased) Cordova, and Robin (John) Brinkmann. He had 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alene Rae Anderson Christensen. He had six siblings, Jay Elmo Christensen (deceased), Karen Christensen Russell (deceased), Nyle K. Christensen, Bernell Lee Christensen, Brent Christian Christensen, and Terry Lewis Christensen. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, April 1, 2024, 1:00 p.m. at Copper Steeple Chapel, 1364 West 1870 North, Lehi, UT 84043.
