Robert Gordon Watts, Sr. 85, of Port Charlotte, formerly of King George and Fredericksburg, VA died Sunday, March 24, 2013 in Port Charlotte, FL. He was born May 9, 1927 in Port Royal, VA to the late Charlie and Virginia Watts. He served honorably during WWII in the U.S. Navy, and continued his service with the U.S. Government for twenty-seven years. He retired to Southwest Florida with his wife, Anne, who preceded him in death in December 2007; also proceeded in death by his daughter, Anne Watts Hart, September 2012. He was a long standing member of the American Legion, The Elks Lodge, The Moose and VFW of Port Charlotte. He is survived by his son, Robert G. Watts, Jr. and his wife Kelly, of Port Charlotte; his sister Virginia Upshaw of Gether, VA; grandsons, and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Legion Post 110. 3152 Harbor Blvd., Pt. Charlotte, FL in Robert's memory. Graveside Services will be conducted on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Charlotte Memorial Cemetery with Navy honors, along with American Legion and Chaplain officiating at 9400 Indian Springs Cemetery Road, Punta Gorda, FL. Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 941-639-1171
