Robert Lawrence Iacovello

Iacovello, Robert Lawrence Jun. 7, 1936 - Jun. 7, 2013 Robert Lawrence Iacovello, of North Port, Fla. died on his birthday, June 7, 2013. He was 77. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a jack of all trades, but spent many years as a chef and auto mechanic. There wasn't much that he couldn't do if he had the right tools. He was a man of simple needs -- cooking meals, playing card games on the computer and watching Bonanza were all he needed to make him smile. He moved to Florida from Harwich, Mass. in 2001 and has enjoyed retirement with his family, great friends, fishing, antique car shows and daily visits to Abbe's Donut Shop. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 11am at Lakeside Lutheran Church of Venice; Rev. Randy Winkel will officiate. A private burial will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery. Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home, Cemetery and Crematory is handling arrangements. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Judi (née Rupert); his daughter and son-in-law Michele and Michael Lamond; his grandsons Christopher and Nathan Lamond; his brothers Lorenzo, Mario and Dick Iacovello; his sisters Rose Barney and Loretta Beaudoin; numerous nieces and nephews and other dear family and friends who loved him. He is preceded in death by brothers Michael and Vincent Iacovello, and sisters Virginia Hart, Dorothy Rice, Camella Luciani, Margaret Plapis and Josephine DiTullio. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the North Port EMTs Shift C, Bayflite, the SMH North Port ER and the employees of Sarasota Memorial Hospital CCU/Pod B for his care and support in his final days.
