John Paul Graves, 78, passed away September 15, 2018, in Olympia, Washington. He was born August 14, 1940 to Paul and Lucille Graves in Aberdeen, Washington. John graduated from Hoquiam High School, Class of 1958. He met his future wife, Judith Lee Mitchell, in high school and they were married February 13, 1959, in Hoquiam. The Graves family lived in Hoquiam during the school year and spent summers at Lake Nahwatzel. When they retired, it was to the Lake, with winters spent in California and later in Surprise, Arizona. Professionally, John was a union electrician and member of IBEW Local #76. He loved laughter and a good joke. In his younger years, he loved playing golf, and dancing. In the last 10 years, he couldn’t do his favorite things, but he played poker three times a week with his wonderful poker pals and kept a smile on his face. John’s family was his whole world! He is survived by his wife, Judy of Lacey; sons, Bob (Trisa) of Puyallup, Washington, and Steve (Teri) of Yelm, Washington; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; cousin, Dale Graybeal of Astoria, Oregon; and three brothers-in-law and their wives. His parents predeceased him. There will be a private family gathering.
