William Richard Bonetz

William Richard "Bill" Bonetz went home to be with his heavenly Father on Wednesday, September 4th, 2013 in Des Moines Iowa while on vacation. He was 70 years old. Bill was born in Philadelphia on August 14th, 1943 to the late Winston and Dorothy Bonetz. Bill graduated from Phoenixville High School in 1961. He married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Mary, in 1964 and they lived together in Gilbertsville, PA for 38 years before retiring to Port Charlotte Florida in 2006. Bill worked in banking and financial consulting for over 34 years, retiring in 2005. Bill was held in high esteem by those he worked with and will always be known as the "Numbers" guy. Bill was also known as the Marathon Man, running 116 marathons, one in each state, Bermuda, Canada, France, England, Italy and Ireland. He loved to travel, was actively helping his wife to reach her goal of running a half marathon in every state and was passionate about his garden. Bill was also a member of Edgewater United Methodist Church and lived his life for the Lord. Bill is survived by his wife, Mary, of Port Charlotte Florida; son, Scott, wife Heather, of Fort Myers, Florida; daughter, Laura Mahan, husband Fran, of Lansdale, PA; and one brother, Robert Bonetz, wife Judy, of Birdsboro, PA. He is also survived by three grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many, many friends who will miss him dearly. A viewing will be held at 9:30AM Friday at Edgewater United Methodist Church, 19190 Cochran Boulevard in Port Charlotte with services at 10AM.
