Isadore "Butch" Martin Sylve Jr.
November 16th, 1948 - January 3rd, 2019
Isadore Martin “Butch” Sylve Jr. expired on January 3, 2019 after a long illness. He was 70 years old. Isadore was born November 16, 1948, the fourth of 11 children born to the late Isadore Martin Sylve Sr. and Eva Ceasar Sylve in Laplace, Louisiana. He was a beloved husband for over 30 years to his devoted and loving wife, Roswitha “Rose” Gresham Sylve, and father to sons, Isadore Martin Sylve III of Moreno Valley, California and Andre Gresham of Olympia, Washington. He was a grandfather to Isadore Martin Sylve IV, Audrianna Sylve-Saulsberry, and Aundrea Gresham. He was also survived by four brothers, Michael Sylve of Laplace, Gary Sylve of San Antonio, Texas, John (Brenda) Sylve of San Antonio, and Andrew (Deborah) Sylve of New Orleans, Louisiana; four sisters, Carolyn (Eulice) Garrett of Laplace, Jennifer (Anthony) Banks of Schertz, Texas, Sharon (Ronald) Parquet of Laplace, and Mariea (Adam) Shelton Sr. of San Antonio; two stepsisters and two stepbrothers of Laplace; devoted godmother; great aunts; and a host of nieces and nephews and a multitude of cousins. Isadore was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dianne Sylve Lewis; and brother, Donald Sylve. Isadore graduated from Fifth Ward High School in Reserve, Louisiana, in 1967. He acquired a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1984 from Seattle University. Isadore became a disabled U.S. Army Vietnam War Veteran following an injury during his service (1969-1971). On December 21, 2018, he was awarded the Purple Heart medal for courage and bravery. Isadore retired from the U.S. Postal Service/Federal Government as a faithful employee after completing 30 years of service at the Tacoma, Washington Post Office Branch. Relatives, friends and former co-workers at the Tacoma, Washington Post Office Branch are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 812 Bowker St. SE, Lacey, WA 98503.
