John S. Heim

John S. Heim, 67, passed away of cancer on January 21, 2020 Belfair, Washington, his home of 35 years. He was born June 6, 1952 to Richard and Ruth Heim in Leominster, Massachusetts. Over the years, he also lived in California and Alaska. John graduated from Sitka Alaska High School in 1970. He was a certified journeyman electrician, and also certified in HVAC/Refrigeration, Insulation and Asbestos. He was an insulator and pipe fitter on all boilers and steam turbines through the AFL-CIO, Teamsters. As an HVAC-certified heating and cooling industrial insulator, he worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, and also was an insulator and pipefitter at Alaska Lumber and Pulp in Sitka. He married Sharon D. Silvester Barnes on January 22, 2002. His hobbies included building guitars, rebuilding and repairing stringed instruments, and repairing tube amplifiers. John was always happy, singing and playing music. He was a member of Colby Methodist Church in Port Orchard, Washington. He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon D. Heim of Belfair; son, Zachary Heim; stepson, Mike Barnes; stepdaughter, Artice Revet; many individuals who called him Dad; five grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Linda) Heim; and sisters, Diane (Tom) Bryant, and Patty (Mark) Bynum. He was predeceased by his parents; son, Jesse T. Heim; daughter, Charlotte Adelman Heim; sisters, Susan Kincaid and Cathy Derryberry; and brothers, Bobby Heim and Michael Heim. Services will be held March 28, 2020, 2:00 p.m. at Colby United Methodist Church, 2881 Harvey St. SE, Port Orchard, WA 98384.
