A devoted husband, step-dad, brother, uncle and grandfather - Bob was born in Tacoma on November 15, 1952 and went home to be with Jesus on January 23, 2015 after a long illness. He attended Lincoln High School in Tacoma. After High School he traveled to New Mexico where he started and maintained a siding business. Bob eventually returned to Tacoma and worked for Rite Aid for many years, traveling around to the different stores in the position of merchandiser. This is when he met his wife Doretta and finally settled down. They enjoyed 15 years together riding motorcycles to Sturgis, watching movies, playing with their grandchildren, and renovating their two homes, which they loved. Besides his wife, Bob's greatest passion was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles as well as collecting anything and everything that had to do with Harley Davidson or eagle memorabilia. Bob's beloved dog was even named after his passion - Harley!! Bob also had a best friend for over twelve years, Sharon Milner. People would joke that she was like a second wife as they would often fight like 'cats and dogs,' and she made sure to keep him in line for Doretta when they were on the road. He is survived by his wife, Doretta of 15 years, 2 stepsons Donald and Jeremiah (and wife Sarah) and 4 grandchildren, 3 sisters: Dorothy Hartmon, Karen Sorbo, Barbara Hugo, 4 brothers: James, Richard, David, and Steve Sanders, and many brother-in-laws, sisters-in-laws, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Harold Sanders; mother, Beulah Derringer-Sanders, as well as his 3 brothers: Raymond, Kenneth and Billy Sanders. Bobs Favorite Poem: Motorcyclist Prayer: Lord, Thank you for the open air, The feel of wind blowing through my hair, Just me alone upon the bike The thrill of freedoms what I like To wind through country unexplored, Not knowing what Ill see next, LORD: Thats what I seek when off I ride, Im thankful that youre by my side. If I should ride til mornings light, Please keep me safe throughout the night: And when Ive come to journeys end, Its you Ill thank Protector, Friend. Your journey has just begun, Bob. Soar with the eagles and ride your bike as fast as you want. We will love and miss you until we meet again.
