Jack Lee Byrd Sr., 84, of Port Charlotte, Florida, formerly of Franklin, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2011. He was born June 22, 1926 in Franklin, VA, but lived the majority of his life in Kenvil, New Jersey. Jack has been a resident of Port Charlotte for 25 years. He was a retired welder, Local 825 Operating Engineer. Jack proudly served four years in the Navy. He loved being outdoors; truly enjoyed spending time in his well-kept garage doing things to keep himself busy. Jack is survived by his second wife of 14 years, Margaret Byrd; his two sons, Jack Jr. & wife, Joan and Robert C. & wife, Debbie ("Padoagie"); four grandchildren, Jessica, Kristie, Carrie, and Daniel; and 5 great-grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his first wife of 42 years, Ann Jancowski Byrd and his brother, Robert E. Byrd. Family will receive friends and funeral services will be at 11:00AM on Friday, April 1, 2011 at Paul Schelm Funeral Home, 12687 SW CR 769 in Lake Suzy with Pastor Frank Vargo officiating.
