John (Giovanni) Ciaraldi, 87, of Port Charlotte, Florida formerly of Stamford, Connecticut passed away April 4, 2011. John was born August 13, 1923 in Marina de Minturno, Italy. He was an entrepreneur and owner of Café and Restaurant in Marina de Minturno, Italy. John and his family came to America in 1956 and settled in Stamford, CT where he began working in the construction industry. As president of the Minturnese Social Club in Stamford, CT, John became very involved in his community. In 1976, John became a landscape nursery owner in Port Charlotte for many years retiring to his passion: his family. John was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. John is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Maria; 4 sons and a daughter, Tony, Domenick, Bruno, Tina, and John; daughters-in-law, Nancy and Mary and son-in-law, Michael; 11 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 6-8:00PM on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Paul Schelm Funeral Home, 12687 SW County Road 769 in Lake Suzy with a wake service to be held at 7:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00AM on Friday, April 8, 2011 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 2500 Easy Street in Port Charlotte.
