John H. Woods Sr. of Port Charlotte, FL passed away at age 93 on 8/30/2014. He was born in Waterbury, Vt. Mr. Woods was a medic in the U.S. Army during WWII and was retired from the State of Ct where he was employed as a Dept. Supervisor of Nursing at Fairfield Hills Hospital. In his younger years he was part of the Vermont Ski Patrol, a lifeguard, and an avid fisherman. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, and a member of the American Legion. He was predeceased by his wife, Louise Woods of Port Charlotte, Fl. and siblings William Jr., Gordon, and Margaret. He is survived by one sister, Harriet Rice of S. Windsor, Ct. his first wife and trusted friend, Marjorie Woods of Port Charlotte, Fl. , sons John Woods Jr. (Jaci) of Moberely, Mo., and Gary Woods (Deborah) of Lady Lake, Fl., his daughters Alice Saxton (Boyd) of Sandy Hook, Ct., and Sally-Jean Woolard (Curtis) of Port Charlotte, Fl. He is also survived by several grandchildren, including Angel and Robert, who were blessed to have him in their daily lives as w ell as many great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He will be dearly missed. Arrangements are by Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home, Cemetery and Crematory, 9400 Indian Spring Cemetery Road, Punta Gorda.
