John Michael Hammer

John Michael Hammer, age 48, passed away Sunday morning, December 27, 2020. John was born April 1, 1972, in Bremerton, Washington, to Vernon and Ellen Hammer (both deceased). He worked for 27 years as a dispatcher, the last 23 years for South Sound 911. He proposed to his wife over the radio of a patrol car with the help of the late Deputy Kent Mundell. John and Patricia married on June 24, 2007, in his father’s backyard in Napa, Idaho. John was a man who shared his love for life with his family and friends, often finding the humor and silver lining in any situation. He had the ability to make people feel loved and appreciated in all that they did. Family was always important to John and he loved to do things just because it would make his family happy. He had the biggest heart; loving his family could easily be his biggest passion and hobby. He was also a lover of science fiction, fantasy and all things nerdy. He regularly attended comic con with his wife and daughter, where he had the opportunity to meet many of his favorite authors and actors. John is survived by his wife, Patricia Hammer; their children, Marisa, Jacob, Nicholas and Gabriella; his brothers, Tony and Joe Hammer; and his grandfather, Howard Hammer.
