Deborah Susan Raby

Charlotte Deborah Susan Raby Deborah Susan "Debi" Raby, 61, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Friday, Feb. 20, 2015, at Tidewell Hospice Inc. in Port Charlotte. She was born June 20, 1953, in Fort Myers, Fla. Debi was a graduate of Charlotte High School, Class of 1971 and a 1975 graduate of Florida State University, with a major in English and a minor in linguistics. Because of her love for languages, and a desire to translate Bibles, Debi attended S.W. Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, and Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, Calif. While in California, Debi worked in a law office for 10 years. When she moved back to Texas, she continued to work in a law office for 11 years. On her return to Punta Gorda, 2 years ago she was employed by the Charlotte Sun Newspaper. Debi was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She was of Christian faith. Debi is survived by her mother, Elizabeth S Raby; sisters, Joyce Raby (Thomas) Tyrell of Sarasota, Fla., Jeane Raby of North Port, Fla., and Lynne Raby of North Port; brother, Chris W. (Gi-Gi) Raby of Punta Gorda; and nephew, Corey W. Raby of Punta Gorda. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Charles and Annie May Raby; maternal grandparents, Calvin and Elizabeth Silcox; father, Charles W. Raby Sr.; brother, Charles W. Raby Jr.;and nephew Curt W. Raby Visitation will be held Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home, 9400 Indian Spring Cemetery Rd., Punta Gorda, FL 33950.
