Sam E. Posey

Sam E. Posey passed away January 31, 2022, in Lacey, Washington, his home of 14 years. He was born August 15, 1948, to Garland and Marie Posey in Long Beach, California, where he lived until 2004. Sam graduated from Millikan High School in 1966, and attended Pasadena College and Long Beach Community College (1966-1969). He married Elizabeth Eggart on March 21, 1970, at Long Beach First Church of the Nazarene, where he was a member. Professionally, Sam worked in sales for printing paper companies (1980-2004), and in customer service for Alaska Airlines (2005-2015). He was optimistic, led by example, had the ability to make people feel special, and brought laughter to all with whom he came in contact. He was a great joke teller. He loved baseball, fantasy football, playing with his kids, movie dates with his wife, board and card games, maintaining friendships, and reading historical non-fiction. Music was a meaningful part of Sam’s life, especially Elvis Presley and The Beatles. Sam is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Posey of Lacey; son, Brian Posey (wife, Kristin) of Texas and four grandchildren; and daughter, Katharine Posey (husband, Jeff Haas) of Renton, Washington. Services will be held Monday, February 28, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at Mountain View Church of the Nazarene, 940 Israel Road SW, Tumwater, WA 98501. Reception immediately following in the Fellowship Hall.
