Sue Glenn Richey
July 5th, 1936 - August 24th, 2017
Sue Glenn Richey passed away at the age of 81 on August 24, 2017. She was born on July 5, 1936 in Tacoma to William Lee Richey and Elizabeth (Judy) Richey. Sue grew up in Lakewood and graduated from Clover Park High School. She continued her education at Washington State College graduating with a degree in Education. A fifth year degree was earned at Pacific Lutheran University and a Master’s Degree at Central Washington University. A teaching career was enjoyed for 38 years in nine school districts including Colorado Springs and overseas assignments in Germany and Okinawa. Following her retirement in the Clover Park School District, she became involved with the Tacoma Orthopedic Association and Mary Bridge Brigade’s Board of Trustees in supporting the Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital through charity and philanthropic work. Sue was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority, P.E.O. – Chapter DE, Lakewood Orthopedic Guild, Retired Women in Education, and Oakbrook Ladies Nines Golf Club, and was a past member of the Mary Bridge Children’s Foundation. She is survived by her brother William (Bill) Richey Jr. of Tigard, Oregon; her nieces and nephew: Dana Herms (Portland OR); Kristin Tucker (Olympia); Jodi Duty (Tigard OR); Erin Buell (Hailey ID); John Richey (Colt’s Neck NJ) and their children and grandchildren; and countless friends, students, and colleagues. A celebration of Sue’s life will be held Sunday, September 10, 2-4 pm at Fircrest Golf Club.
