Joseph E. Stephens, 85, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Tidewell Hospice in Port Charlotte. Mr. Stephens was born September 8, 1929 in Newark, New Jersey to John and Emma (nee Baker) Stephens and moved to this area in 1997 from Franklinville, NJ. He was self-employed in the hotel supply industry and was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Army. Mr. Stephens was of Catholic background. Mr. Stephens is survived by his wife, Josephine (nee Maggi) Stephens of Port Charlotte, FL; sons, Joseph (Linda) Stephens, Jr. of Middletown, DE, John (Cathy) Stephens of Westville, NJ, and James (Jill) Stephens of Philadelphia, PA; daughter, Nancy (Andy) Wilson of Philadelphia, PA; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 1:00PM on Friday, May 29, 2015 at Paul Schelm Funeral Home, 12687 SW County Road 769 (Kings Highway) in Lake Suzy.
