Doris J. Fox

Doris J. Fox, 96, passed away of natural causes on June 25, 2022, in Lacey, Washington. She was born May 31, 1926, to George Walters and Thelma Carter Walters in Wenatchee, Washington. Over the years, she also lived in the Washington cities of Leavenworth (1929-1944; 1971-1992); Seattle (1944-1971) and Tumwater (1992-2020). Doris married Merle K. Compton on June 24, 1948, in Anchorage, Alaska; he passed away August 31, 1988. She married C. Howard Fox on February 26, 1971, in Leavenworth; he passed away January 4, 1985. In addition to being a wife and mother, Doris worked for Boeing (1944-1971) as a photo developer and printer for the space program in Seattle; and with her husband Howard, running an apple and pear orchard (1971-1974), from which she retired. Doris enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, and travelling. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Fox Adams of Olympia; granddaughter, Angela K. Townsend of Oakville, Washington; great-grandsons, Dalten J. Hansen-White and Dawsen C. Hansen-Todd, both of Olympia; and sister, Rose Bickel of Cashmere, Washington. She was predeceased by both husbands; and granddaughter, Susan C. Hansen (June 10, 1970 – August 27, 1987).
