Roy G. Meyer of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away on Monday, June 22, 2015 at the Douglas T. Jacobson Veterans Home. He was born September 25, 1921 in Pittsburgh, PA. to Catherine Wenzel and Henry Meyer. After serving his country in the U.S. Coast Guard, he worked 40 years as a master electrician at E.L. Weigand, Pittsburgh, PA. He and Mary Libby moved to Port Charlotte in 1983. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo, Port Charlotte Golf Club, Maple Leaf Golf Club, VFW and the American Legion. He was an avid bowler, golfer and enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and playing cards. Roy is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Mary Libby; his children Maureen (Bob Heyl) of PA, Karen (Dennis Fogle) of NC, Greg Meyer of Port Charlotte, Jerry Meyer of PA, 7 grandchildren and 16 1/2 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday June 26th from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, June 27th at 11 am at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Port Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Douglas T. Jacobson Resident Fund, Inc., 21281 Grayton Terrace, Port Charlotte, FL, 33954. Arrangements are by Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery. Pay respects at www.charlottememorial.com.
