James W. Birchfield, 86, of Pt. Charlotte, formerly of Arcadia and W. Portsmouth, OH passed away Friday, Sept. 25, 2015. He was born, June 12, 1929, in Point Pleasant, WV to Madison and Edith Birchfield. He was preceded in death by his 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Jim worked in the aerial and underground cable industry. He and his wife settled in the area in 1973, where he enjoyed years of boating, fishing, scuba diving, boat building and numerous other projects. He was an active member of the Ft. Ogden United Methodist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Stella; Daughter: Debbie(Donald) Michaud of Huntsville, AL; Sons: James(Linda) and David(Donna) of Pt. Charlotte, FL and Roger(Amy)of Harbour Hgts., FL; 4 Grandsons, 3 Granddaughters; 4 Great-Grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1pm, Wed. Sept 30th, at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home, 9400 Indian Spring Cemetery Rd., Punta Gorda, FL, with the service and burial immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL. 34238. Pay respects at www.charlottememorial.com.
