Frederic Wayne Sjoquist

Frederic Wayne Sjoquist passed away of COPD on April 5, 2023, in Lacey, Washington, USA. He was born June 16, 1940, to Hubert Eric and Maria Helen (Wasylyk) Sjoquist in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He resided in Lacey the last 25 years, and also in Surrey, B.C., Canada (26 years), Vancouver, BC, Canada (28 years), and Florenville, Belgium (four years). Frederic served as a photographer in the Royal Canadian Air Force – I Wing as an NCO Corporal in Marville, France (1960-1967). He then served in the Canadian Air Force Reserve (1979-1998), retiring as a Major. He graduated from BC vocational school (1967-1971) as a Journeyman Electrician and worked as a Master Electrician with IBEW #213 (1968-1998). Frederick married Joni Roberta Johnson in Surrey, BC, Canada in 1994. He loved flying, photography, skiing, camping, ham radio, reading, and fixing anything. He was a member of Harmony Lodge, Masonic Lodge, AFIFI Shriners, Olympia #36 Order of Eastern Star, Lewis County Ham Radio Club, and Puget Sound Miata Club. Frederic is survived by his loving wife, Joni; daughter, Kari; sons, Christopher and Timothy; grandsons, Zachary, Riley and Noah; Joni’s daughter, Heather, and son, Murry; grandchildren, Colin, Patrick, and Abigail; along with extended family and many friends. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 10, 2023, ­­­­­10:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the Olympia Masonic Center, 521 North Street, Tumwater, WA 985601.
