Gordon E. Jones, 95, passed away of natural causes on September 11, 2023, in Yelm, Washington. He was born November 26, 1927, to Harold and Kathleen (Redmond) Jones in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, where he attended school through the 12th grade. He married Ethel May Long on May 17, 1961, in Redondo Beach, California. Ethel passed away October 29, 2015. Gordon was a metal worker employed with McDonald Douglas Aircraft at Boeing in Torrance, California. Gordon was a great, noble, and loving man. He was warm-hearted, helpful, and would take the shirt off his back to help others. He loved woodworking and compiled a book of all the beautiful things he had made for all to see. He also loved music from the 1930s and 1940s and went to Jazz in Yelm Park every year. He was a member of the International Union of Machinists Lodge 2024; Good Sam’s Camping Club in Huntington Beach, California; Crossroads Community Covenant Church in Yelm; the Yelm Senior Center; and many others. Gordon is survived by his son, Bob Jones of Newport Beach, California; daughters, Deborah Reyes of Yelm and Sharon Harris of Anaheim, California; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife; and adopted son, Steven Allen Jones. Burial will take place October 6, 2023, 2:00 p.m. at Yelm Cemetery, 11540 Cemetary Road SE, Yelm, WA 98597, with Pastor Russ Blake officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the family.
