Marjorie Wisner Anderson
March 21st, 1931 - February 10th, 2018
Marjorie Wisner Anderson Marjorie W. Anderson (1931-2018) died peacefully on February 10th. She was 86. Marjorie was born in New York City and spent her childhood in Ridgewood, New Jersey. The middle daughter of Eugene and Doris Wisner, she was a free spirit from an early age. After earning a diploma from Ridgewood High School in 1949 and graduating from secretarial school, she worked in New Jersey as a secretary. In 1955 she and a girlfriend drove cross-country from New Jersey to Seattle to start a new life. Marjorie had a wonderful sense of adventure, and for a young woman to do this in 1955 was quite something. Arriving in Seattle, Marjorie began working for Martin Anderson, a successful general contractor. They married in 1957 and raised two sons in their home in Magnolia. Following his death in 1972, she moved to Windermere and continued her career as an executive secretary, most recently at Key Bank in Seattle. After retiring, she married Mauri J. Pelto in 1996 and bought a home on Bainbridge Island. Marjorie treasured her family and a close group of friends, and was a lifelong volunteer for the elderly. She enjoyed theater and the performing arts, and was active in bicycling, sailing, cross-country driving, traveling, and exploring life. A self-described “private person,” she somehow brought a spark to every conversation and to the lives she touched. Marjorie is survived by her husband Mauri Pelto, sons William Anderson (Andrea) and James Anderson, stepsons David Pelto (Judith Anderegg) and William Pelto (Linda Larson), three grandchildren, and many loving friends and relatives. A memorial celebration will be scheduled in the month of April. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Island Volunteer Caregivers, of Bainbridge Island. Arrangements by Edwards Memorial, Funerals Homes, Chapels and Crematories. 253-566-1008
