David Roy Murdoch

David R Murdoch On April 23, 2018 David Murdoch passed away at the age of 81 in Tacoma, WA. He was born May 8, 1936 in Edmonton, Alberta. At 6 yrs of age he moved to Vancouver, BC. He travelled by train and woke up to see the majestic Rocky Mountains for the first time. A memory recalled throughout his life with the same childlike wonder and awe. He often reflected on his childhood and on how hard his mother Ann worked. She was a professional seamstress but her talents also included real-estate; buying and selling homes. She worked tirelessly and David adopted her work ethic. At 16 he began working with the CP Railroad for 5 years. He went on to higher education receiving his Bachelor of Theology and a Teachers Diploma from Vancouver Bible Institute in 1968. Moving to Seattle and obtaining a BA from Seattle Pacific College the following year. In 1975 he graduated with a MA followed by completing his Doctorate of Theology in 1976 at Northgate Graduate School. He worked for WA State helping injured workers before heading into the private practice of Personal Biblical Counselling which he did for 35 years. He was also a Chaplain with Goodwill in Seattle for many years before moving to Tacoma in 1981. He pastored in 5 churches through the years both here in the US and in Canada. There were several Mission travels in Romania working with churches, orphanages and street children. As well as to Holland and Norway. David was a key figure in initiating the Chinese Reconciliation Committee Foundational Work in the early 90's. This led to the building of a Chinese Commemorative park on Commencement Bay. David is survived by his wife Signy; son John (Karen) Murdoch of Cochran, Alberta; daughter Laila (Larry) Terada of Escondido, CA and sister Audrey June Murdoch of Toronto, Ontario.
