Barbara Kaye Grout Barbara was born January 7, 1945 in Hanford, CA and passed away on September 16, 2018 in Tacoma, WA. She is survived by her husband - Leonard; daughter, Charlotte Grout; son, Jeffrey Grout; her grandchildren: Abigail, William, Miss Margaret Ann and numerous extended family members and friends.She was 73 years old. Barbara was born and raised in the small community of Handford, CA to William and Alma Carter (both deceased). She had three older siblings, Robert Eskue (deceased), Betty Fought (Deceased) and Johnny Carter (deceased). Barbara was married on the 3rd of July 1965 in a small chapel in Berkley, CA to Leonard D. Grout with family and friends in attendance. Barbara attended Tacoma Community College and Washington State University. Barbara was a long-time member of the Life Center Church in Tacoma, WA. Barbara was an active member of the choir. She participated in the Christmas Tree Program every year. She was also an active volunteer working in the Life Center Church Thrift Shop. Barbara enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading books especially mysteries, love to travel and she especially enjoyed collecting flamingos, all shapes and forms. A service to celebrate Barbara’s life will take place at the Life Center Church, Tacoma, WA, on October 8, 2018 at 11:00 AM.A Reception will take place after the service with coffee and desserts.
