Michael Eugene Johnson Michael Eugene Johnson, lifelong Tacoma resident, passed away at home Monday October 1, 2018. Born in Tacoma February 15, 1958 to Eugene (who proceeded him in death) and Shirley (Johnson) Fay, Mike was the eldest of four boys (Craig Johnson, Gary Johnson, and Anthony Fay). Mike attended Wilson High School in Tacoma, WA, and was a part of the class of 1975. At age 18 he started as an apprentice in the glazing industry with Milgard Windows. Being the dedicated, hard-worker he was, he found something he enjoyed and stuck with it for the remainder of his life. Mike spent 30 years with Herzog Glass in Seattle, WA and was highly respected throughout his career with the company. During that time he served in many roles, from installer, to foreman, and finally project manager. At the time of his death he had invested 38 years with the Glaziers and Glassworkers Union Local 188. In 1980, Mike met Michelle Lasyone and was married to her on February 14, 1981. They spent 28 years together and had two daughters, Mariah (Jeremie) Neighbors and Leslie Johnson. He leaves behind his beloved daughters and son-in-law, as well as four granddaughters (Mollie and Gabriella Neighbors, and Riley and Kelsey Ellifritt). Mike was the proudest dad and grampa around. All his girls truly meant the world to him. His daughters are thankful for the many lessons he taught them in life, including the value of hard work, perseverance, strength, and quiet leadership. Mike was a man of many hobbies, most of which were outdoors where he was happiest and most at home. In his younger years, he spent countless hours hunting and fishing, primarily with his dad and brothers. Other hobbies throughout the years were camping, four-wheeling, and classic car shows. His most recent loves were tailgating and attending UW Husky football games and golfing with countless buddies. A celebration of life will be held for Michael at Calvary Community Church in Sumner, WA on October 27, 2018 at 11:00am. As a man of quiet love and strength, he will be dearly remembered and greatly missed. Arrangements by Edwards Memorial, Funerals Homes, Chapels and Crematories. 253-566-1008
