Donald L. Joel, 87, of Lake Suzy, Florida passed away Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte. Mr. Joel was born January 9, 1925 in Euclid, Ohio to Clarence and Della (nee Crawford) Joel and moved to this area 18 years ago from Akron, OH. He worked as a layout designer for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 45 years and was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army where he was one of the first to storm Normandy Beach. Mr. Joel is survived by his son, Donald J. (Carolyn) Joel of Port Charlotte; and 2 grandchildren, Christian and Destiny Joel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, in October. Graveside services will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte. Entombment will follow.
