Shirley Boling Reule

Shirley Boling Reule, a lifelong resident of Tenino, Washington, passed away peacefully July 13, 2021, at the age of 93. Shirley was born the youngest of five daughters to Lonis “Pat” and Maude Boling in November 1927 on Churchill in Tenino. She attended school at Cattail Elementary, a one-room schoolhouse, and graduated from Tenino High School in 1945. A few years after graduation, she went on a blind date with Walt Reule and they were later married in 1950. They were together for 59 years until Walt died in 2009. Shirley worked multiple jobs until her retirement in 1987. She was the bookkeeper for AD Campbell, worked at the Ft. Lewis laundry during the war, and is best known as the postal clerk at the Tenino Post Office, where she worked for over 25 years. Shirley and Walt loved to travel in their RV and were always on the road in their retirement years. They enjoyed their trips to Reno and Eagle Conventions across the nation. Shirley and her best friends were always ready to go to a bingo parlor or casino for a day out of the house. Shirley was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was always taking the extra step to make someone’s day special. Shirley was a member of the Tenino Eagles Auxiliary, Tenino VFW Auxiliary, and Tenino Eagles RV Club. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walt; and sisters, Lulu McMurdy, Opal Liggett, Hazel Etter, and Maxine MacMurdy. She is survived by her two children, Pat (Lori) Reule of Montesano and Cheryl Reule of Olympia; five granddaughters, Mindie Reule (Brock), Erica Munro (Joe), Kerry Salazar (Trino), Megan Izatt (Jeff), and Ashley Blair (Brett); nine Great grandchildren; and two nieces. The granddaughters and great grandchildren were the bright light that brought many smiles to Shirley.
