Funeral Alternatives of Washington - Tumwater
Leslie "Les" Eugene Reynolds
March 27th, 1932 - February 8th, 2021
Leslie “Les” Reynolds was born and raised in Tenino, Washington, the son of Franklin Reynolds, a self-employed auto repair and service station man, and Louise Reynolds, a homemaker. After graduating from Tenino High School, Les entered the Navy, proudly serving until the death of his father. Being the only son, he was honorably discharged to return home to run the family business. He and his wife, Lois, met and married in 1955, later having two daughters. A businessman himself, Les bought and operated a Mobil service station located on the northeast corner of the Sleator Kinney Road and Pacific Avenue intersection in Lacey, Washington, where Jiffy Lube now sits. The family then moved from Lacey to Sumner, Washington, where, for 39 years, he owned and operated a towing, repair, and service station. In that time, he helped to found the Washington Tow Truck Association (now known as the Towing and Recovery Association of Washington), served as a Pierce County Reserve Deputy Sheriff for approximately 15 years, and held a two-year position as a water commissioner, also in Pierce County. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association and a Golden Eagle. He was also an active life member in Eastern Star and as a Free Mason in Tenino, Washington, his beloved hometown. Over the years, Les involved himself with organizations such as the Sumner High School Automotive and Auto Body Repair programs and the School Traffic Safety Committee. Les was a “car guy” and greatly enjoyed vehicle repair and restoration, especially on his own vintage cars. He retired in Olympia, where he enjoyed the T-90 Quarrymen Car Club, the Capital City Vintage Car Club, working around his place and in his shop, which of course housed years of acquired tools and equipment, along with his beautiful vintage cars. Most importantly, Les was a great father and husband. He was the ever-patient teacher and coach, kind and loving, yet firm and disciplined. He was a hard-working man his entire life and provided well for his “girls.” The unexpected loss of Lois in 2017 broke his heart, and yet brought the entire family into a new appreciation for life and one another, which in turn created an atmosphere that allowed for both he and his family to greatly enjoy his remaining years. Words cannot begin to express how much this man is loved and is missed. He died peacefully in his home on February 8, 2021. Les was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Lois Reynolds; and his grandson, Paul Ogle. He is survived by his two daughters, Lori Fogaras and Rene’ Conger; his sister, Shirley Baker; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Celebrate the Life of Les Reynolds on Thursday, September 23, 2021, 1:00 p.m. in The Kodiak Room, 225 Sussex Avenue West, Tenino, WA 98589. Please bring a dessert, a story and/or a picture. Refreshments will be provided. Please leave condolences or share memories and photos on the Tribute Wall to the left.
