Edwards Memorial Funeral Homes - University Place
Linda Jeanne Vincent
July 9th, 1951 - May 5th, 2021
Linda Vincent, 69, passed away on Wednesday, May 5th, 2021 in University Place, WA. There are many who love her and she will be missed. She died peacefully surrounded by family and friends. She was a loving mother, wife, sister, and aunt. Reverend Linda was a Unity Minister. She held a Master’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s in Divinity. She enjoyed the ocean, swimming, golf, and her favorite song was Elvis Presley’s “If I Can Dream.” In her life she performed many acts of service including being a Hospice Chaplain and serving her church. She is a kind and gentle soul who always held compassion for others and the world. Her favorite flower was the stargazer lily, which she received in abundance first at the birth of her daughter and throughout her lifetime. Her celebration of life will be held with her loved ones. Linda’s family would like to thank all of the good doctors, nurses, social workers, and chaplains that touched our lives through her experience with cancer. As for Linda’s family and friends, she would want us to live on and embrace love and peace. But she would also understand that we may cry first, and grieve her loss, and she would encourage us to come together in this time to not just find meaning in her passing but to find each other. Even in her earthly absence, the light she is still radiates. This is a time of heartbreak but do not doubt that joy will follow. As one of her favorite spiritual teachers and leaders, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, quotes in The Book of Joy: “Discovering more joy does not, I’m sorry to say, save us from the inevitability of hardship and heartbreak. In fact, we may cry more easily, but we will laugh more easily, too. Perhaps we are just more alive. Yet as we discover more joy, we can face suffering in a way that ennobles rather than embitters. We have hardship without becoming hard. We have heartbreak without being broken.”
