Eugene "Gene" R. Bilden
July 24th, 1937 - September 6th, 2021
Eugene “Gene” R. Bilden, beloved uncle, friend, dog lover, and trainer, passed away on September 6th, 2021. He was born in North Dakota on July 24, 1937. Eugene is survived by his nieces and nephews, Brian, Donn, Sally, Elise, and Rick. He was predeceased by his mother, Dorothy Bilden (Hemming), shortly after childbirth; his adopted parents (grandparents), Dora & Edwin Bilden; sisters Ruth, Valborg, and brother, Lawrence. He is survived by many dear friends, including his best friend, comrade, and caregiver, Johnny Gordon. Gene was raised in Mayville, North Dakota, and spent the majority of his adult life in the North Dakota, Minnesota area and was employed as a renal dialysis technician, working in hospitals and clinics. He pioneered and was essential in developing kidney dialysis technology which eventually culminated in-home dialysis treatment. Gene moved to Washington State to be closer to his sisters, Ruth and Val, and their families. He continued renal dialysis assistance to patients at St. Peter Hospital in Olympia and eventually retired from that profession. Gene loved dogs and became deeply involved with the Puyallup Valley Dog Fanciers Club in training, judging at dog shows, and ownership of these beloved dogs which became his best friends. The ashes of all of his dog friends that predeceased him give us the hope and faith that they will all meet him in Heaven for a joyous reunion. He was an intelligent, witty, man who loved to argue, debate, laugh, and spend time with family and friends. He was accused of, and hesitantly may admit, that he was a stubborn Norwegian. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Puyallup Valley Dog Fanciers Club.
