Dora White Lantow Clayman

Dora White Lantow Clayman was called home to the Lord on December 11, 2023, in Olympia, Washington. She was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on December 15, 1925, to parents Alexander Milton White and Alice Russel White. Dora was raised in Jacksonville. After her marriage to William “Bill” Lantow, she lived in North Carolina, Japan, California, and Florida while Bill served in the U.S. military. They raised their three sons in Jacksonville Beach and Ft. Myers, Florida, before retiring to Albuquerque, New Mexico. After Bill passed away, Dora found love again and married Lee Clayman. She and Lee lived in Albuquerque. After Lee’s passing, Dora moved to Lake City, Florida. She later returned to Albuquerque, then moved to Lacey, Washington, to live with her son Robert and to be near her son Sam’s family. Dora was Queen of Yucca Temple, Daughters of the Nile in 2001 and Worthy Matron of Adda Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star in 2001. These organizations were very important to her. Dora was a devout Christian and attended Del Norte Baptist Church in Albuquerque until she moved in 2020. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and a good friend to all. She enjoyed traveling, creating ceramics, and hosting family gatherings and dinner parties. She is preceded in death by her parents Alexander Milton White and Alice Russel White; her six brothers, Clarence, Artee, Alexander Jr., Pervis, Elbert, and Oscar LaVerne White; one sister, Eltha White Ricketts; and husbands, William Wayne Lantow and Lee H. Clayman. She is survived by her three sons, Ronald Lantow of Laurel, Maryland, Robert Lantow of Lacey, Washington, and Samuel (Orapin) Lantow of Tumwater, Washington; grandchildren, Vivian (David) Lantow Hemond of Gainesville, Florida, Daniel (Mary Virginia) Churchill of Palmer, Alaska, Akina (Chris) Lantow of Honolulu, Hawaii, Kenji (Haleigh) Lantow of Lynnwood, Washington, Aom and Allison Lantow of Tumwater; great-grandchildren, Aylena, Talia, and Liam Carlson, Dillon Churchill, and Kaia Lantow; sister-in-law, JoAnn White of Fernandina Beach, Florida; step-daughters, Linda Clayman, Virginia Clayman Swisher, Patricia Clayman Hacker, and Victoria Clayman Minor; and many nieces and nephews. Dora will be laid to rest beside her husband, William Wayne Lantow, in Santa Fe National Cemetery, New Mexico. A memorial service will be held on April 20, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., followed by lunch at 11:00 a.m. The service will be at the Ballut Abyad Shriners Temple on 6600 Zuni Rd SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Dora’s honor may be made to either the Daughters of the Nile Foundation https://donfdn.org/ or Shriners Hospital for Children https://lovetotherescue.org/.
