Carlos A O Byrne-Martinez

Carlos Arturo O’Byrne-Martinez died December 3, 2023 after a short illness. Carlos, a native of Cartagena, Colombia emigrated with his family as a young boy to New York. After his Army service, he moved to Chicago, married, and worked for the University of Illinois for 26 years. He settled in Port Charlotte, Florida upon his retirement to be near his cousin and dearest friend, Dr. David Ballestas. Carlos was known for his love of sports, his pride in his family, and his stellar character. He is survived by his beloved daughters Jessica, Katarina and Carla, as well as a son-in-law, Tony Rossetti; the mothers of his children, Isabel Ruiz Martinez and Bregetta Robinson; and his five siblings Alma, Lourdes, Gloria, John, and Ana. We salute you, Carlos. We honor the man you were: honest, brave and true. Godspeed.
