Edward H Taylor

Edward Hayse Taylor, 87, passed away Monday, May 13, 2024. He was born May 3, 1937 in Monroe County, KY to John Thomas and Mary Ella Taylor. Ed accepted the Lord as a child and attended church all his life, serving as an adult Sunday School teacher and deacon over the years. After graduating high school, he served in the Army for 3 years as a photographer. Ed married Tena Wright Nov 4, 1960. From that union he was blessed with six children. After his stint in the army, he worked in construction most of his adult life building houses, pools, pool cages, and various handyman jobs in Kentucky, Florida, and Tennessee. When he retired, he found pleasure in his talent of making beautiful things as a wood turner. Ed sold his turned vases, platters, bowls, and other items at craft fairs for several years with his company “As the Bowl Turns.” Ed loved fishing, especially bass fishing, and passed that love to his sons and grandsons. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his family. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Tena; brother, Alfred (Diane) Taylor; children, Kimberly (Michael) Wasserman, Carol Weaver, Michael Taylor, Christopher (Michelle) Taylor, Anthony (Meghan) Taylor, and son, Larry’s, wife, Marian; 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and another on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, firstborn son, Larry, and sons-in-law Bill Gaines and Steve Weaver. The family will receive friends 10:00 – 11:00 am Saturday, May 18 at First Baptist Church Punta Gorda with the service in celebration of Ed’s life beginning at 11:00.
