Verleen Holley
May 29th, 1947 - October 5th, 2016
Verleen (Micey) Holley was born May 29, 1947 in Little Rock Arkansas to Tommy Lee and Birdie Mae Simpson. The Simpson family moved from Arkansas to California in 1960. Verleen graduated from McClymonds High School in Oakland, California in June 1965. In 1967, Verleen and her family relocated to Seattle, Washington where Verleen began her modeling at John Robert Powers Modeling Agency. Verleen was a homemaker until 1981 when she decided to attend SOIC, Seattle Opportunities Industrial Center, to receive her accounting and bookkeeping certificate. In 1983, Verleen moved to Des Moines with her children where she met several amazing friends that she still knew and loved to this day. Verleen loved to spend time with her family especially her grandchildren. She loved to watch them play sports, overnight sleepovers filled with laughter and to spend time cooking their favorite foods. Verleen enjoyed traveling and definitely camping with family and friends. She kept everyone smiling and full of laughter with her stories around the campfire. Those that knew Verleen knew she had a very funny sense of humor, but you had to catch it. Verleen will always be in our hearts as a loving, caring and amazing woman. She treated everyone like family and was known for her beautiful smile and sense of style. Verleen was proceeded in death by her parents, Tommy Lee & Birdie Mae Simpson, Lillian Powell (God Mother), Ezell Simpson (Brother), Odell Simpson (Brother), Leon Cooper (Brother in Law), and Lee Simpson (Sister in Law). Her amazing love and memories will be cherished by her two children; son Eugene Holley Sr., daughter Ronda (Terome) Fulmore, 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 5 brothers Otis and Bobby of Seattle, WA, Marion (Brenda) and William of Fresno, CA, Wiley of Everett, WA; 2 sisters Birdeen Cooper of Fayetteville, NC and Maggie of Kent, WA, her God Father, Terebia (Papa Joe) Powell, the father of her children Ronald (Juel) Holley Sr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
